In May 2018, a new regulation on personal data protection, the so-called GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), will come into force. This is European regulation, which is not just a recommendation, but binding on all EU Member States.
It will apply to all companies that process the personal data of their employees and customers, and non-compliance will be punished by heavy financial penalties. Not only European companies will be subject to regulation, but also multinational companies that maintain data on EU citizens.
This is clearly good news for the issue addressed by MeDigital, as the rights of internet service users will be greatly strengthened. MeDigital monitors developments in the field of GDPR and has specialists who deal intensively with this issue.
